President Muhammadu Buhari has left Madinah for Makkah, Saudi Arabia, as part of his eight-day official visit to the holy land.
The Nigerian president visited historic religious sites in Madinah, including the city’s International Fair and Museum of the Prophet’s Biography and Islamic Civilisation.
In addition, Mr. Buhari observed the five daily prayers, including Taraweeh, at the Masjid Nabawi before departing for Makkah via Jeddah on Wednesday night.
The Nigerian leader, who was accompanied by some officials, is expected to perform the lesser pilgrimage immediately after arriving in Mecca late Wednesday night.
Buhari’s official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be his last as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He will hand over power on 29th May to the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress after he emerged victorious at the February 25th election .
