NSCDC impounds trucks, vehicles containing ‘illegally obtained’ crude in Rivers

Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Michael Ogar said his command has impounded two heavy-duty trucks and four vehicles in Rivers State laden with over 90,000 liters of illegally obtained crude oil and over 1,400 liters of illegally refined petroleum products.

He made this known while Parading the suspects and exhibits at the Command’s Exhibit Yard in Obio- Akpor Local Government Area (LGA), the commandant noted that the trucks were intercepted while conveying the illegally obtained crude oil to Akwa Ibom State.

Ogar explained that the four vehicles were impounded at different locations across the State

While giving the breakdown of exhibit recovery, the NSCDC Boss said the two trucks were laden with about 90,000 liters of illegally obtained crude oil, two of the vehicles were conveying 2,250 liters of crude oil while the remaining two vehicles were laden with 1,450 liters of illegally refined kerosene and diesel popularly known as Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).

He said the suspects will be charged to court, while the impounded exhibits will be forfeited and the money remitted to the Federal Government coffers.
