In preparation for his inauguration on May 29, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has announced the dissolution of his cabinet.
In a letter dated Tuesday, May 23, 2023, the governor has terminated the appointments of all political office holders and has instructed them to hand over government properties that are under their custody.
The letter was signed by Segun Ogunwuyi, the Chief of Staff to the Governor and Chairman of the Transition and Inauguration Committee.
The letter states that Governor Seyi Makinde has directed the dissolution of the Oyo State Executive Council and the termination of all political officeholder appointments, effective from Tuesday, May 23, 2023.
All political office holders are required to officially hand over and surrender all government properties in their possession to the most senior civil servant in their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
It is important to note that this directive does not apply to political office holders in statutory commissions.
Governor Makinde, who emerged victorious in the governorship poll, winning by a large margin, is set to be sworn in for a second term in office on May 29.
