A Nigerian-born councillor, Dr. Adekunle Osibogun, has been elected as the Deputy Mayor of Buckingham – Buckingham Town Council in the United Kingdom for a term of one year.
In a statement signed by his Communications Manager, Maxwell Adeleye on Thursday, this appointment will see him serving as the deputy to the newly elected Town Mayor, who will also hold office for one year.
Dr. Osibogun currently represents Buckingham South on the Buckingham Town Council and serves as a council member for Buckingham East on the Buckinghamshire County Council. He is a member of the Conservative and Unionist Party and was elected in the council elections held on May 6, 2021.
Buckingham, located in North Buckinghamshire in South East England, holds a special place in Dr. Osibogun’s heart as he arrived in the town in 2004 to pursue his second undergraduate degree.
In his role as Deputy Mayor, he will provide support to the Town Mayor by participating in council meetings, promoting community-focused initiatives, addressing residents’ concerns, and ensuring the efficient functioning of public service departments within the town.
Among his responsibilities, Dr. Osibogun will assist the Town Mayor in handling administrative tasks related to the daily operations of the town council, represent the town in meetings with officials from other government entities, review and approve the proposed budget, and attend public events in an official capacity.
Originally from Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State in Nigeria, Dr. Osibogun has a diverse educational background.
He pursued his studies in History at the prestigious University of Ibadan in Nigeria before obtaining a Law degree from the University of Buckingham in 2006.
He furthered his education with a Master’s degree in Law, specializing in corporate governance, from the University of Manchester in 2008.
In 2022, he completed his Doctorate Degree in Law at the University of Buckingham.
Professionally, Dr. Osibogun is a member of the Middle Temple and is qualified as a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
He is the founding partner of Osibogun & Partners and serves as the principal consultant for AOLaw Ltd.
In addition to his legal practice, he has taught corporate and commercial law at various universities, including the University of South Wales and the University of Buckingham. Currently, he imparts his knowledge in corporate and commercial law at the University of Law in Bloomsbury, London.
