President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey on his victory at the just concluded election in the country.
The newly sworn-in Nigerian leader said the success of Mr. Erdoğan is an unmistakable sign that he retains the full trust and confidence of the Turkish people.
He wished the Turkish leader a successful tenure while hoping for a “collaborative relationship between our nations.”
He said in a statement via his Facebook page: “I congratulate President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan (@rterdogan ) on his recent electoral victory, an unmistakable sign that he retains the full trust and confidence of the Turkish people.
“I wish him a successful tenure and look forward to a collaborative relationship between our nations.”
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish President, on Sunday won Turkey’s presidential election after a tense run-off to retain office.
In his address to supporters outside the Presidential Palace in Ankara, he spoke about how “nobody has lost” and that ” 85 million have won as a whole”.
Erdoğan added that now is the time to “unite and get together around our national goals and dreams”.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak joined other world leaders to congratulate Erdogan.
“I look forward to continuing to work together as Nato allies on bilateral issues and shared global challenges,” Biden wrote on Twitter.
Similarly, Sunak said: “I look forward to continuing the strong collaboration between our countries, from growing trade to tackling security threats as Nato allies,” he tweeted.
