The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), a faith-based human rights organization, has urged Imams to commence weekly prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The Executive Director of MURIC, Professor Ishaq Akintola, conveyed this message while extending congratulations to the president and vice president for their successful inauguration.
In a statement, Prof Akintola expressed MURIC’s felicitations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima on their inauguration, which took place on Monday, May 29th, 2023, at the Eagle Square.
“We celebrate with the new president and vice president and share in their moments of glory,” the statement said.
“While basking in the excitement of victory, we implore the duo to be fully aware of the challenging tasks ahead. Nigeria is a complex society, and thus, it is essential to engage in profound reflection and consider all perspectives before making decisions. Their primary objectives should be good governance and improving the quality of life for all citizens.
“MURIC calls upon all Imams across Nigeria to initiate weekly prayers for President Tinubu, Vice President Shettima, and our nation, Nigeria, immediately following the Friday Jumu’ah sermon.
“Lastly, we appeal to all Nigerians to grant the new administration the opportunity to settle in and to cooperate with its efforts in enhancing the standard of living in the country.”
