President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, and former world richest man, Bill Gates, have paid a visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu today, Monday, at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The top richest men are currently holding meeting behind closed-doors with the president.
Issues of global health and development, as well as Nigeria’s place in the community of countries, are expected to be discussed at the summit, which is taking place behind closed doors.
According to a statement obtained by TheCable, Gates is visiting Nigeria and later Niger to meet with national and local officials, foundation partners, grantees, scientists, and young innovators to address global health and development.
Earlier on Friday, Aliko Dangote, president of the Dangote Group, told state house correspondents that he and Gates would be visiting President Bola Tinubu this week.
The visitation is part of the Gates Foundation’s will to support innovations and scientists in the African continent.
“Gates and other foundation leaders are visiting to learn from partners helping to address polio, anemia, and other health threats; scientists applying research to develop agricultural innovations that will help with food security and climate adaptation; innovators using technology to improve access to financial services; and others working to improve lives in Niger and Nigeria and throughout the continent,” the statement reads.
“They will also meet with national and regional leaders to encourage them to make investments and advance policies that promote innovation and provide equitable opportunity, despite challenging economic conditions.
“Gates will also participate in a conversation with students and young leaders to gather insights and share perspectives on how science and innovation can accelerate positive change and contribute to a brighter outlook for Africa.”
