The newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun has expressed his desire to get rid of criminals in the country, saying a lion in him is ready to devour all the internal enemies of Nigeria.
Egbetokun said this after he was decorated by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Tuesday.
He said, “Now, I have just been decorated, and I am looking forward to taking over tomorrow morning by 11 am
“I will tell you that right now, I feel like a Tiger inside of me ready to chase away all the criminals in Nigeria. And some other time, I feel like a lion in me ready to devour all the internal enemies of Nigeria.”
The new IGP was decorated by vice president Shettima and was assisted by Egbetokun’s spouse, Mrs Egbetokun at the event honoured by senior government officials, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume; Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma; the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu; and the outgoing Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba.
Recall that president Bola Ahmed Tinubu named Egbetokun as the new acting IGP after former IGP, Usman Baba, was sacked.
Egbetokun, who hails from Egbado-South in Ogun State, was a former chief security officer to President Tinubu.
He served in various commands and held sensitive positions within the Nigeria Police Force before his appointment.
