Abubakar Rasheed, the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), has tendered his resignation from his position.
According to a report, the voluntary resignation, will be effective from July 2023.
The announcement came during a ceremony held in Abuja on Monday, where Abubakar presented a certificate of recognition to Governor Yahaya Bello for the establishment of Kogi State University Kabba, located in Kogi State.
Expressing his decision, Abubakar stated that despite having more than three years remaining in his second tenure, he has chosen to resign voluntarily.
His intention is “to return to the classroom and continue lecturing at Bayero University, Kano”, where he previously served as the vice-chancellor.
Abubakar was appointed as the Executive Secretary of NUC by former President Muhammadu Buhari in August 2016 and was subsequently reappointed in 2021.
