Renowned Nollywood actress, Sidikat Odunkanwi, popularly known as Iyabo Oko, has sadly passed away.
The heartbreaking news was shared by her daughter, Bisi Aisha, on Facebook today, revealing that the actress breathed her last on Wednesday evening.
In her Facebook post, Bisi Aisha wrote, “May your soul Rest In Peace, mummy.”
Actress Foluke Daramola-Salako also confirmed the devastating news, expressing her grief on Instagram. She wrote, “And finally, we lost her… RIP Iyabo Oko. We did our best, but God knows best.”
Prior to her passing, the 61-year-old actress had been battling with a prolonged illness, which led her to take a significant hiatus from the movie industry.
Iyabo Oko, born on November 15, 1960, in Iwo Local Government Area of Osun State, was known by various stage names such as “Iyabo Oko,” “Apoti Aje,” and “Sisi Mama.”
Last year, one of her daughters, Olamide, revealed that her mother had been diagnosed with ischaemic stroke approximately five years ago but chose to keep her health struggles private.
During her difficult times, Yoruba Nollywood stars including Foluke Daramola, Iyabo Ojo, Bolaji Amusan, Mercy Aigbe, and Biodun Okeowo, among others, provided financial assistance to support her.
