Super Eagles of Nigeria’s coach, Jose Peseiro, will continue to serve as the tactician of African football giant as talks to renew his deal with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) set to commence soon.
This was disclosed by the Technical Director of the NFF, Augustine Eguavoen as Peseiro’s previous contract with the football governing body already expired on 30 June 2023.
Eguavoen, on the other hand, stated that they would make changes to the existing agreement while asking him to be reasonably fair if he wants to continue as Super Eagles coach.
“At the moment he is in charge, we are discussing in-house and we are giving him conditions as well,” Eguavoen said on All Nigeria Soccer.
“We are flexible, so it could be suitable for both sides and once we reach a common ground, why not?
“We would invite him and once we agree and we arrive at a common ground, we would be flexible and we also want him to be flexible with us,” Eguavoen continued.”
“Contract or no contract, he is a human being and he is still the coach of the national team as it is. Contract attached to whatever is not the issue for now.
“We will invite him as our present coach. We want to reach a common ground but if we can’t, we would also like to shake hands.”
Jose Peseiro, the former Real Madrid assistant manager was appointed as Nigeria’s head coach on a one-year contract in May 2022, and led the Super Eagles to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in 2023.
