Engr. Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State, has officially declared Wednesday July 19, 2023, as a public holiday within the state.
This decision aims to honor the Hijrah 1445, commemorating the Islamic New Year.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, the Chief of Staff to the Governor.
The circular extends warm congratulations to the Muslim community on the advent of the New Year.
Governor Makinde urged the Muslims to utilise the occasion to pray for the peace, unity, and sustainable development of the state and the entire nation.
Wednesday marks the first day of Muharram 1445AH, signifying the commencement of the Islamic New Year.
