The Acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has delivered cheques worth seven million one hundred thousand naira to the 14 families of policemen who died in the line of duty.
ASP Yazeed Abubakar, the Zamfara State Police command, said this to newsmen in the capital, Gusau.
The payments were distributed as part of the Group Personal Accident and IGP Family Welfare insurance programmes of the Nigerian Police Force.
The commissioner of police for Zamfara State command, CP Mohammed Bunu, praised the Acting IGP for his wonderful gesture and urged the families of the fallen heroes to use the money judiciously.
Ms Mosunmola Apata and Mr Ayuba Bassi, two of the beneficiaries, thanked the Acting Inspector General of Police and the state police Command for their assistance and promised the Command that the money would be used wisely.
