The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to taking all necessary steps to reduce the threat of flooding during this rainy season.
Alhaji Ahmad Haruna Zago, the Managing Director of the Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB), said this during a media briefing in Kano.
He stated that the current administration in Kano, led by Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, places a high focus on waste management in order to improve the health of the general public.
Alhaji Ahmadu Haruna Zago stated that hundreds of tonnes of rubbish have been evacuated from various areas of the metropolitan local governments since his appointment as Managing Director of the Board.
The Managing Director appealed to the general public to refrain from dumping garbage on rivers and highways, stating that the board has begun a large enlightenment campaign on the risks of dumping refuse in undesignated areas.
He added that the board will evacuate all the refuse dumped by the roadsides in the metropolitan area within the next seven days.
He advised the general public to support government efforts through proper disposal of waste , geared towards having a healthy society.
