Ondo Govt. mourns deaths from Sunday tanker explosion as Acting Gov. visits scene

The Ondo State administration has expressed grief over the unfortunate loss of lives of some locals in an explosion from a fuel-laden tanker at Ore, in Odigbo local government.

According to a statement from the commissioner of information, Mrs Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, the government is saddened by the avoidable tragedy, which is not only gripping but mind numbing.

It expresses condolences to the families of those killed in the explosion and promises to contact them.

The statement however warned against the alleged incidence of scooping oil from fallen tankers, which resulted in the disaster.

The Sector Commander of the FRSC , Mr Ezekiel SonAllah confirmed that eight persons died in the incident which happened Sunday evening as residents scooped fuel from a fallen tanker.

Authorities said all the victims were burned beyond recognition and couldn’t be identified.

Meanwhile, Acting Governor, Mr Lucky Ayedatiwa has visited the scene of the incident to sympathize with the people of Ore.
