President Bola Tinubu has stressed the need for ECOWAS member-states to take drastic measures against forceful change of government in the sub-region.
The chairman of the sub-regional body stated this in Abuja while declaring open an emergency of member-states he summoned to to deal with the coup situation in the Republic of Niger.
He noted that period was a challenging time for the sub-region and it’s people, urging authorities of member-states to demonstrate their commitment to saving the situation.
President Tinubu emphasised that “disrupting the democratic order had led the people of Niger to a state of uncertainty and vulnerability.”
He told them to do alI that was necessary to ensure that Niger was saved from what he called further assault on freedom.
