Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has issued an appeal to striking labor unions, urging them to refrain from politicizing the labor movement. Keyamo’s statement was shared via the official X handle of the Ministry on Thursday evening.
It was reported that on Thursday, members of labor unions obstructed both the entry and exit points of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, causing significant traffic congestion.
This action came in response to the unions’ decision to halt flight operations to Imo State following an attack on NLC President, Joe Ajaero.
The Minister reacted by calling on the unions to exercise restraint for the benefit of the Nigerian aviation sector.
He cautioned that striking workers should not target the Nigerian aviation industry due to its vital economic significance in the country’s development.
“Keyamo appeals to the Labor unions to abstain from engaging in politics under the guise of the Labor movement. While he condemns the mistreatment of the Labor president in an incident in Imo State, he believes that the aviation sector should not be the subject of labor strikes because of its critical economic role in the development of our nation.
