President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the appointment of Mohammed Abba Isa to the position of Senior Special Assistant to the President on Disability Matters.
This decision was announced in a statement signed by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.
Mohammed Isa is recognized as a prominent advocate for individuals with disabilities and possesses more than a decade of experience in both local and international disability advocacy.
The statement highlighted that the newly appointed presidential aide holds a degree in Public Administration with honors from the University of Maiduguri. He also obtained a Master’s in Public Administration in 2017.
In line with the statement, the President has charged the new appointee with the responsibility of proactively creating opportunities for inclusion by incorporating the requirements and perspectives of persons with disabilities into the policies and programs of all Federal Government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
He has also been directed to collaborate with sub-national authorities to foster a national consensus on disability-friendly policies and environmental conditions in partnership with the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD).
