Military Reveals Details Of Terrorist Attack On Yobe Governor’s Convoy

Recall that on Saturday, Boko Haram terrorists staged an attack on the governor’s convoy, which occurred about six kilometers from Benesheikh town while returning to Damaturu from Maiduguri.

Governor Buni was not present in the convoy during the ambush. The Secretary to the State Government and other top officials in the convoy escaped unharmed.

Unfortunately, a policeman who was later hit by bullets succumbed to injuries, and one military truck driver, four police escorts, and one DSS operative sustained injuries and are currently undergoing treatment.

In response to the incident, Major General Edward Buba, the DHQ Spokesman, issued a statement on Monday, revealing that troops of the 29 Task Force Brigade successfully thwarted the terrorist attack.

The troops recovered the two vehicles involved in the incident and are conducting a fighting patrol in the area to locate the perpetrators of the attack.

Major General Buba reported that the wounded military truck driver, four police escorts, and one DSS operative are in stable condition.

Tragically, one of the injured police escorts passed away shortly after arriving at the Specialists Hospital in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe state.

He further stated, “Reinforcements of troops from the 29 Task Force Brigade, led by the Brigade Commander, are conducting a fighting patrol in the area to locate the terrorists who carried out the dastardly act.

The two affected vehicles, one military MRAP, and one civilian escort vehicle, have been safely recovered to the military camp at Benisheikh.”
