Sanwo-Olu Faces Setback As Lagos Assembly Declines Nominee Confirmation Appeal

The Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Eromosele Ebhomele, announced in a statement that Governor Mudashiru Obasa sought the confirmation of a commissioner-nominee and five nominees for special advisers.

The letter was read during a sitting presided over by Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, with only the commissioner-nominee, Mr. Abiodun Ogunleye, named.

The House decided to write back to the governor for the remaining identities of the special adviser nominees.

Speaker Obasa agreed with lawmakers, emphasizing the importance of knowing the identities of the nominees for transparency. Deputy Majority Leader Hon.

Adedamola Richard Kasunmu observed that the letter did not follow the usual procedure of revealing nominee identities, suggesting a need for clarity. Colleagues Hon. Ladi Ajomale and Hon.

Owolabi Ajani supported this view, highlighting the absence of details for the special adviser nominees.

Additionally, the Lagos State House of Assembly invited the state’s procurement agency to investigate alleged spending by the Offices of the Governor and Deputy Governor.

Speaker Obasa noted efforts by the executive to dismiss the story as untrue but stressed the need for the House to establish the facts behind the reported expenditures.
