The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has testified in a case filed by the federal government against the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, during the 2023 election in Ogun State, Ladi Adebutu.
The agency testified through an operative, Kelechi Kenneth, before an Ogun State High Court.
It will be recalled that the Federal Government dragged Adebutu and nine others before the court over alleged vote-buying during the last election in the state.
While testifying before the court, Kenneth said, “We didn’t accuse anyone of vote-buying. On the day of the election, we saw four men on a bike with 52 cards looking like ATM cards with the imprint Dame Caroline Aladuni Adebutu memorial endorsement scheme for less privileges.
“We arrested the men, took their statements, and handed them over to the police.
“They said they were coming from their work, where they held a meeting with other PDP leaders and they were given 52 cards to distribute to their members at the OGBC Polling Unit 17 and that each card contained N10,000 with accessed code of 0303.”
