JUST-IN: MSSN Oyo State Area Unit Reacts To Ibadan Explosion, Encourages Donations of Relief Materials To The Victims

The Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) Oyo State Area Unit has sent its commiseration message to the victims and the families of the Tuesday explosion that rocked Adeyi Avenue, Bodija area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

This was contained in a Press Release signed by the group’s Chairman (Amir), Engineer AbdulKabir Adewale Alamal’Yakeen in Ibadan and made available to the newsmen on Thursday.

Engineer AbdulKabir while addressing the newsmen said, it was with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the MSSN Oyo State Area Unit responded to the tragic incident that unfolded in Ibadan on the evening of Tuesday, 16th January 2024.

The explosion at Adeyi Avenue, Bodija, has left some dead and several others injured.

Engr AbdulKabir said, their thoughts and prayers went out to the victims and their families during this challenging time, he extended the group’s condolences and prayed that may Allah provide strength and patience to their loved ones.

According to the statement: “the preliminary investigations conducted by the Oyo State Government, reveal that the blast was caused by illegal miners who had stored explosive devices in one of the houses in Bodija. This unfortunate incident has not only claimed lives but has also caused extensive damage to properties in the vicinity.

“As Muslims, it is our duty to stand united in the face of adversity. In response to this calamity, the Oyo State Government, under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, has taken immediate steps to address the situation. The government has assured coverage of medical bills for all victims, temporary accommodation for those affected, and support for rebuilding their lives.

“Let us join together in offering our sincere prayers for the quick recovery of the injured and for the families affected by this disaster. May Allah (SWT) grant them solace, healing, and the strength to overcome this trying time.

“We commend the efforts of the first responders, security personnel, and medical teams who are tirelessly working to provide assistance and support. Their dedication is a testament to the spirit of compassion and unity that defines our community,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, the group said it remembered the teachings of Islam, emphasizing empathy, charity, and support for one another and considered reaching out to local relief efforts to provide assistance to those affected to corroborate the government efforts.
