Three commuters lost their lives in a road accident that occurred along Osogbo/Ikirun road, involving a truck and a car.
All three victims were traveling in a car heading toward Ikirun, the same direction as the truck.
Also, the car that the deceased travelled in was completely damaged in the accident which occurred at about 8:25 pm on Tuesday.
It was gathered that immediately after the accident, the driver of the truck took to his heels to escape the wrath of the people near the scene.
Speaking on the accident on Wednesday, the spokesperson of Osun Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kehinde Adeleke, said operatives that visited the scene reported that the crash was caused by reckless driving.
She further said, “A fatal accident occurred around 2025 hrs on 27th February 2024 along Ikirun-Osogbo Expressway. The accident involved a Lexus 350 car and an unregistered trailer.
“The accident claimed three lives on the spot. According to an eye witness, the accident was a result of reckless driving and over-speeding by the driver of the said trailer who took to his heel immediately after the incident.
“The victims had been taken to a yet-to-be-identified morgue.”
