OYSIEC Chair, Security Hail Oyo Council Poll

The Chairman, Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Aare Isiaka Olagunju (SAN), Commissioner of Police, Adebola Hamzat and other security agencies in the State have commended the ongoing local government election in Oyo State.

They said, the election is free, fair, credible and violence-free, saying if the pace at which the exercise is going can be maintained, its outcome would be better than the last poll.

Speaking after a joint security monitoring of the election in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, Olagunju said security report from Ibadan and across showed that the ongoing council poll was peaceful and violence free.

Fielding questions on late arrival of election materials in some polling units, Olagunju said the issue has been resolved, adding that necessary steps has been taking to address the issue.

Hamzat noted that duty of security agencies in the poll was to maintain security of lives and property of residents before, during and after the election.

He said: “We went out to monitor security situation in the town, the security report is good, commendable and devoid of violence.”
