Obasanjo Declares Support For New Political Party

Former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has emphasized his withdrawal from active involvement in partisan politics. He unequivocally stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) now belongs to his past, signaling his disengagement from party politics.

The announcement came during the unveiling ceremony of the VIP lodge at the Osun State government house in Osogbo on Sunday. While delivering his remarks, Obasanjo lauded the efforts of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, in fostering unity within the PDP and among its members in the state.

Expressing his belief in the significance of unity within the party, Obasanjo remarked, “What I have witnessed during my stay here in the past three days is commendable. I had previously reached out to you advising that while you enjoy the political dance, ensure your focus remains on governance and progress.”

Acknowledging his past association with the party, he noted the recent efforts made by Governor Adeleke in convening a meeting with party leaders, including Senator Olu Alabi, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, and former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola. Obasanjo stressed the importance of inclusivity, urging the governor to engage all stakeholders for the collective benefit of the party, the state, and the nation at large.

Obasanjo’s declaration underscores his commitment to political neutrality while endorsing a cooperative approach towards governance and party affairs.
