The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Oyo State chapter, has suspended its indefinite strike.
According to a statement sighted by journalists which was addressed to the Chairman Oyo State Hospital Management Board, Dr Akin Fagbemi, the union suspended the strike earlier declared after the intervention of the Oyo State government.
The statement jointly signed by the State Chairman, Adeyemi Samuel and Secretary, Comrade Aina Emmanuel reads: “We write to inform you that following the commitments of the States Government to attend to our demands the leadership of NANNM Oyo State Council has approved for suspension of our indefinite strike for one month.
“This is to allow for the implementation of the remaining approved agitations.
“In the light of the above, all our members across the state have been directed to resume back to their duty from Wednesday 24th July 2024.
“We are optimistic that you will not relent your efforts in meeting all our demands.
“While thanking you for your efforts in addressing all our demands, please accept the assurances of our highest regards”.
In his brief remarks, Chairman Oyo State Hospitals Management Board, Dr Akin Fagbemi lauded the efforts of Governor Seyi Makinde who he said has assured the nurses of the implementation of their demands.
