The Political Awareness Group (PAG), comprises technocrats and professionals dedicated to good leadership, has celebrated one of its own, Dr. Bilal Shittu, on his appointment as the new Chief Imam of Eruwa Land.
According to a statement by the PAG Chairman Dr Lukman Tunde Fasasi, the appointment was a surprise for Dr. Shittu, yet it sets a positive precedent for others to follow.
The Group believed that it is a well-considered decision by the council that appointed him, likening him to a “round peg in a round hole.”
While praying for a peaceful and successful tenure, Ustaz Monsur Abdus Salam, the First Vice Chairman of the Group and its spiritual head, implored Allah to grant Dr. Shittu good health, wisdom, knowledge, and guidance as he embarks on this new responsibility.
Ustaz Monsur highlighted that the appointment is a fulfilment of Allah’s promise found in Surah An-Nur, verse 55:
“Allah has promised those among you who believe and do righteous deeds that He will surely grant them succession [to authority] upon the earth…” (Surah An-Nur 24:55).
Also, Professor Abideen Olaiya, Secretary of the Board of Trustees, extended congratulations to the new Chief Imam on behalf of the Board, encouraging him to remain steadfast in the virtuous character he is known for.
Alhaji Isiaka Ayokomi Adesokan, the Ibarapa Zonal Coordinator of the group, advised Dr. Bilal Shittu to continue being a rallying point for all Muslims in Eruwa, a role he is well recognised for.
Dr Fasasi on behalf of all members and the leadership of PAG, prayed for the position to serve as a source of merit for the new Chief Imam on the Day of Judgment, not as a source of regret, and that Allah grants him a good ending. Amin.
