Nigeria Air plane set to arrive on Friday – Minister of Aviation
In what appears to be a boost to Nigeria’s aviation sector, the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, has announced that a Nigeria Air aircraft is scheduled to touch down in the country on Friday.
This long-awaited event marks a major milestone in the process of commencing operations for the national carrier and also as one of the caps on the head for the Buhari administration’s achievements.
During an interview on Channels Television, Senator Sirika expressed his assurance that the aircraft would be unveiled in Nigeria’s national colors, fulfilling the promises made by the administration in the aviation sector.
The minister emphasized that the only remaining item on the checklist is the aerotropolis, the airport city, which is currently 60% complete.
He further stated that the groundwork for the airport city has been laid, and efforts are underway to conclude its construction during the next administration.
Back in March, during an aviation stakeholder’s forum in Abuja, Sirika had pledged that Nigeria Air would begin full operations before the end of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
Responding to a question about the exact commencement date, Senator Sirika confidently stated, “Before the end of this administration, before May 29th, we will fly.”
Highlighting the achievements of the Federal Government in the aviation sector, the minister affirmed that they are leaving it in a better state than they found it, having successfully accomplished over 90% of the aviation sector’s roadmap.
The arrival of the Nigeria Air aircraft is eagerly anticipated by citizens and stakeholders alike, as it signifies a significant step towards the revitalization and expansion of the country’s aviation industry.
With the promise of improved connectivity, increased employment opportunities, and a boost to Nigeria’s economy, the successful launch and operation of the national carrier are expected to have far-reaching positive impacts.
