Makinde appoints Omolewa, former PMS Secretary as new Chairman
The government of Oyo State has appointed Alhaji Oluwatomiwa Omolewa as the new Chairman of the state’s Park Manager System (PMS).
The announcement was made on Sunday June 4, 2023, through a press release signed by Sulaimon Olanrewaju, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde.
According to the statement, the appointment is an effort to reorganise the Park Management System.
Alhaji Omolewa, who previously served as the PMS Secretary, will receive support from Alhaji Kasali Ajisafe Lawal, also known as Baba Bola, in his role as the new Secretary.
It would be recalled that two weeks ago, Governor Makinde dissolved the park management system in the state.
The park management system was established by Governor Makinde in 2020 following the prohibition of the National Union of Road Transport Union (NURTW) in the state.
According to a report by i-News Nigeria, the dissolution of the PMS was declared shortly after the governor’s inauguration for his second term.
Governor Makinde specifically mentioned the dissolution of the Disciplinary Committee of the PMS, which was led by Mukaila Lamidi.
This announcement was conveyed through a statement signed by Segun Ogunwuyi, the Chief of Staff, and was dated Monday, May 29, 2023.
“I have been directed by His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, to inform you that the Disciplinary Committee of the Park Management System has been dissolved, effective immediately from today, Monday, 29th May 2023,” the statement stated.
