Eid-el-Kabir: Oluwo of Iwo shares millions of naira with Muslim faithful
Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has distributed millions of naira among the Muslim faithful.
According to a report on Tuesday June 27, 2023, it is a gesture of celebration for this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival.
During the cash distribution at his palace, the monarch stated, “This money will enable people to purchase items for their families. We have witnessed individuals with businesses valued at less than N10,000. Therefore, this money will greatly assist them.”
“We strive to assist our people to the best of our ability. We have spent millions this morning purely to bring happiness to the people, especially during this time of subsidy removal.”
“The government cannot fulfill every need, so we are striving to provide relief for our people until the government implements their own relief measures.”
He also encouraged them to celebrate the occasion moderately, without exceeding their financial capabilities. This monetary assistance will greatly contribute to the community’s ability to enjoy a memorable celebration.
The royal family emphasized, “I appeal to our Muslim brethren to celebrate this festival within their means. They should not go beyond their financial limits merely to satisfy others.”
“We are well aware of the hardships faced by small-scale businesses due to the removal of fuel subsidies. As a father, my priority is my people, and I will ensure they are well taken care of. They are my people, and I am their servant.”
The monarch expressed his acknowledgment that the current state of the economy is challenging and burdensome. He urged Nigerians to be patient with the current administration led by Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu, assuring them that he would rectify past mistakes that have plagued the country.
He described the removal of subsidies as a positive development for the nation’s progress and guaranteed that things would normalize in the near future.
