No negative feelings over recent demolitions in Kano – Says Gov. Abba Kabir
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano state says he has no negative feelings over the recent order to demolish several structures around the state.
Yusuf made the announcement while hosting the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, at the government house during Eid-El-Kabir celebrations.
The governor said the exercise was embarked upon to bring back public properties that were illegally acquired.
He vowed to ensure that all such properties are restored back for the interest of the good people of the state.
“Your highness it is important for the Emirate Council to note that we embarked on the demolition exercise to bring back public properties that were illegally acquired and we will ensure that all such properties are restored back for the interest of the good people of Kano.”
“No regrets over the demolition of the structures that was sold out by the past administration of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.”
He thanked the Emir and members of the Emirate Council for the visit, which was the first of its kind since his election, and outlined his administration’s accomplishments in the last 31 days in office.
He listed his accomplishments as paying NECO fees for 55,000 secondary school students totaling N1.5 billion, restoring street lights, and reducing cases of phone snatching in Kano, according to Daily Trust.
While reacting to the governor’s speech, the Emir of Kano noted that the visit was made to felicitate with the number one citizen of the state on Eid El Kabir festival.
Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero further assured of his readiness to offer advice that will be important and useful to the progress of the state.
The Emir also urged the government and wealthy individuals to help the poor people to mitigate the aftereffects of the already suspended subsidy on petrol.
