Hajj: Ilorin International Airport prepared to receive direct return of pilgrims – FAAN

The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria(FAAN) has pledged its readiness and capacity to accommodate the return flight of the 2023 pilgrims from Saudi Arabia through the Ilorin International Airport without challenges.

The Manager of the airports, Mr Ogini Olatayo said this while speaking with journalists in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.

He stated that the management is in the process of boosting the airport’s use in addition to the yearly Hajj operation.

Mr Olatayo revealed that this year’s airlift of intended pilgrims from Ilorin to Saudi Arabia via Lagos was caused by misinformation from the operator.

He added that arrangements have been concluded to ensure that Hajj operation is restored back fully to the Ilorin International airport.

The Airport Manager declared that the airfield lighting, fire protection, and other amenities are in excellent condition and can allow both day and night operations at the airport.

On the power situation at the airport, Mr Olatayo expressed worry over what he described as epileptic power supply to the airport by the electricity distribution company.

He urged the management of the electricity distribution company to improve the supply of electricity to the airport to reduce their spending on generators
