The First Female Commissioner of Police posted to Kwara State Command, Ebun Oluwarotimi Adelesi, has officially assumed duty.
In a statement ,spokesman of the command, SP Okasannmi Ajayi said the new commissioner of police took over the mantle of leadership of the command from the outgoing commissioner of police, who was promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Paul Odama.
According to the statement, Commissioner of Police Ebun Oluwarotimi Adelesi hails from Sagamu, in Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
She was enlisted to the Nigeria Police Force on March 3, 1990, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.
She has worked in various Police commands and formations within and outside the country, where she held several Command positions at different times.
The new Commissioner is expected to work in collaboration with the state government to strengthen security and fight crimes.
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq who is also the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) runs a gender-inclusive administration.
In his first term, he constituted a female-majority cabinet and appointed women to key political offices in the state.
It is anticipated that the governor’s antecedents of giving women opportunities in his administration will earn the new CP the required support from the state government to succeed in her role.
