Nigeria Governors’ Forum lauds President Tinubu on his emergence as ECOWAS Chairman
The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq who is also the governor of Kwara State has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his emergence as the Chairman of the Economic Community of West African State, ECOWAS.
The Chairman of the Governors’ Forum disclosed this in a statement on behalf of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and made available to newsmen in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The executive governor of the state of Harmony notes that the decision to elect President Tinubu to head the West African regional bloc underscores the confidence they have in him to provide progressive leadership for the regional organisation and introduce game-changing policies.
Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq called on all stakeholders in Nigeria and beyond to cooperate with President Tinubu on this significant responsibility to place West Africa on the global map.
i-News Nigeria reported that President Bola Tinubu was elected as the chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the regional bloc comprising heads of state and government.
During the 63rd Ordinary Session held in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, President Tinubu assumed the position, succeeding outgoing chairman President Umaro Embaló of Guinea-Bissau.
The statement reads: “On behalf of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), I congratulate His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his emergence as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
” President Tinubu’s unanimous endorsement by his colleagues at the 63rd Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, underscores the confidence they have in him to provide progressive leadership for the regional organisation and introduce game-changing policies.
“We believe Mr. President will justify the confidence reposed in him, given his antecedents as a time-tested leader. With his wealth of experience in both private and public sectors, we have no doubt that the West African leaders have made the right choice. I urge all stakeholders to cooperate with President Tinubu on this significant responsibility to place West Africa on the global map.”
