The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) received a generous donation from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) in the form of a brand new 30-seater Toyota Coaster bus.
According to reports, the donation aims to facilitate the students’ mobility and enhance their activities.
During the presentation ceremony held in Abuja, Sonny Echono, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, emphasized the organization’s commitment to addressing challenges faced by students, including issues with hostel facilities.
Echono further stressed the importance of equipping students with necessary skills and providing them with the support they deserve.
TETFund also expressed the desire for NANS to serve as their representatives in educational institutions, reporting any discrepancies by contractors to ensure transparency in the system.
Echono stated, “We aim to establish a contact person on each campus who will oversee our projects, allowing us to obtain firsthand information even before our team arrives. Through various engagements with stakeholders, we intend to enhance the transparency of our monitoring processes.”
In response, Usman Barambu, the President of NANS, assured the TETFund board that the student body would conduct thorough checks across campuses to ensure that contractors involved in TETFund projects fulfill their responsibilities diligently.
NANS expressed gratitude to the board for fulfilling their request by donating a 30-seater coaster bus. Barambu conveyed their appreciation, saying, “We are here to thank you and encourage the entire management to continue supporting Nigerian students.”
This donation by TETFund serves as a testament to their commitment to improving the educational experience and welfare of Nigerian students through strategic collaborations and interventions.
