Maj. Gen. Edet assumes duty as DICON DG
Maj.-Gen. Aniedi Edet has assumed the position of the 24th director general of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON).
The spokesperson for DICON, Musa Yakubu, announced this in Kaduna on Saturday.
Mr Edet took over the role from Maj-Gen Hassan Tafida, who has been appointed as the corps commander of the Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (NAEME).
During the handover ceremony, Mr Tafida thanked the management and staff for their support and emphasised the importance of their continued support for the new director general.
Mr Edet acknowledged the trust placed in him by the Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of Army Staff, Maj.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja.
He said he recognised the responsibility of leading a critical national asset like DICON and pledged his dedication to duty and efforts to advance its mission and objectives.
The new DG expressed his commitment to building on the foundation laid by his predecessors and emphasised the promotion of innovation, staff welfare, and a business-oriented approach as his priorities.
Mr Edet has a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, and a Master’s degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Also, he holds a Master’s degree in governance and leadership from the Ghana Institute for Management and Public Administration, Accra, and a Master of Science in National Security Strategy from the United States of America National Defense University.
He has attended various courses and training programmes, including the Defence and Security Management Course organised by King’s College London and the United States of America National War College.
The handover ceremony was attended by senior management staff, military officers, and DICON employees.
