Davido deletes controversial song after widespread criticism
Nigerian music sensation David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has eventually surrendered to public condemnation and removed the controversial music video that allegedly mocked Islam.
Widespread condemnation from both Muslims and non-Muslims since Friday forced the award-winning musician to remove the rude and disrespectful video, Muslimsnews reports.
Popular celebrities who previously criticised Davido and his artiste, Logo Olori, the main artist of the song, also confirmed that the objectionable video had been erased on social media, as they begged the singer to remove the moment entirely from the video.
A Digital Communications Aide to Muhammadu Buhari, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (2015 – 2023), Bashir Ahmes commended Davido for taking down the controversial video.
He said in a tweet, “It is good to discover that Davido deleted that offensive and hurtful video. Hopefully, the entire scene will also be deleted from the actual footage before releasing it to the market, and we humbly urge that the same grave mistake should never happen again from him or anyone else. Nigeria is a beautiful country. It is always amazing when we celebrate the beauty of living in unity and harmony while embracing our differences.
“Let’s strive to listen with empathy, understand with an open heart, and respect each other’s values and beliefs. By doing so, we create a safe space for everyone to express themselves authentically and foster an atmosphere of inclusion.
“Remember, it’s okay to disagree; it’s in these moments that we have the opportunity to learn and broaden our horizons. Let’s engage in meaningful conversations, share our stories, and find common ground, no matter how small it may seem.
“With love and respect, thank you!”
Another user with the user name @Wf_Untamed said “Davido finally deletes Jaye Lo video. Good move.
“It is not a sign of weakness or fear but a sign of respect for greater authority and also to foster peace and peaceful coexistence.
“If you think Davido is weak for doing that, You can upload something offensive on your timeline.”
The user earlier remarked that” The Musl|ms may be hospitable but one thing they never do not mix rel|gion with entertainment.Even as a Christ|an, I find the behavior of the video very offensive.”
In his part, Eseoghene Al-Faruq Ohwojeheri, on Facebook said “A Muslim will be boasting that he has unfollowed Davido for “insulting my religion.”
“If you were not shameless, where were you following him to in the first place?”
