NAPTIP unveils new approach to end human trafficking
General National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has unveiled a new approach to end human trafficking.
This was disclosed by its Director, Professor Fatima Waziri-Azi, in Abuja at an event to mark the 20th anniversary of the agency on Thursday July 27, 2023.
The director maintained that the agency will adopt multidimensional and sectoral approach to end human trafficking and other forms of violence against vulnerable persons.
Waziri-Azi described the agency’s 20year Journey as that of growth in an ever changing world.
She observed that “trafficking has dominated both the physical and cyber space hence the need for sustained collaboration and innovation to keep up with changing trends.”
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, expressed displeasure over the increasing rate of violence against vulnerable persons and pledged sustained efforts to make Nigeria a violent and trafficking free nation.
Pioneer Executive Secretary of NAPTIP, Mrs. Carol Ndaguba, called for more awareness in rural communities on the antiques of perpetrators.
The event, themed: A shining legacy, NAPTIP @ TWENTY- Celebrating Partners and Honouring Excellence, also featured an award ceremony.
