The First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, urged the leadership of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to brace for the security challenges in the country during her address at the Defence Headquarters’ one-day Gender Mainstreaming Conference.
In her speech, read by Hajia Nana Shettima in Abuja on Thursday, Oluremi applauded the AFN for organizing the timely event amidst various security challenges.
She lauded the concept of gender mainstreaming, emphasizing its importance in creating a safer and more equitable world.
Emphasizing the conference’s goal to reinforce inclusivity and retool services for personnel, she stressed that comprehensive and innovative approaches are essential to address the increasingly complex and varied security challenges.
The First Lady highlighted that addressing these challenges involves not just military strength but also protecting human rights, ensuring economic stability, and sustaining social and environmental welfare.
She emphasized the need for a collective effort to tackle security issues and promote gender mainstreaming.
