LATEST: IPOB Raises Concerns Over DSS Actions, Warns Against Denying Nnamdi Kanu Visitors
Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) issued a cautionary statement on Monday, advising the Department of State Services (DSS) to handle its leader, Nnamdi Kanu with care.
IPOB expressed concern over the DSS’s decision to deny Kanu access to visitors, deeming it suspicious.
The group rejected the DSS’s explanation for the denial, which cited logistical constraints due to the off-cycle governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States held last Saturday. IPOB dismissed this justification as laughable.
According to Emma Powerful, the spokesperson for IPOB, the DSS had allegedly denied Kanu access to visitors on Thursday.
Powerful accused the secret police of attempting to subject Kanu to torture and create difficulties for him.
In a statement he released, Powerful said, “The global family and movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), ably led by our prophet and supreme leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU, raises alarm over the denial and harassment of our Leader’s visitors by the DSS headquarters’ staff in Abuja.”
He continued, “On Thursday, the 9th of November, 2023, DSS refused to allow Mazi Nnamdi Kanu access to his visitors on a flimsy excuse.
The claim of not having enough personnel to handle the logistics for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s visitors because of Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi States elections by Abuja DSS as a reason for denying Mazi Nnamdi Kanu access to his weekly visitors is ridiculously laughable.
