EFCC Sends Warning To Skit Makers
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a warning to skit-makers, cautioning them against using the operational identities of the Commission in their video clips.
In a statement released on Wednesday by Dele Oyewale, the Commission’s Head of Media and Publicity, concerns were raised about the misuse of EFCC’s operational practices in skits and other social media content.
The statement specifically addressed a viral skit titled ‘EFCC and Army Wahala,’ expressing disappointment in the video’s caricature of the operational conduct of EFCC personnel.
Oyewale emphasized that the portrayal of EFCC operatives in the video, engaging in aggressive actions against “suspects,” was not only embarrassing but appeared to be a deliberate attempt to tarnish the Commission’s image.
Contrary to the video’s depiction, Oyewale clarified that EFCC operatives are not bullies but rather trained as modern law enforcement officers with a commitment to decency, civility, and respect for the public, including individuals suspected of economic and financial crimes.
The statement warned skit-makers to refrain from unauthorized use of EFCC’s identities in their work, stressing that the Commission would take legal action against anyone caught using its operational identities without authorization.
