Lagos Igbo Community Demands Inclusion In Sanwo-Olu’s Government For Adequate Representation
The Igbo community in Lagos State has raised concerns over what they perceive as a lack of representation in Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration.
This assertion was put forth by the Concerned Igbo Elite (CIE) following an evaluation of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s appointments.
In a statement released to the media, the group expressed discontent with what they viewed as a deliberate oversight intended to further marginalize the Igbo population in Lagos.
The CIE emphasized the longstanding amicable relationship between the Igbo and Yoruba communities, particularly since 1999 when Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, now the President, was the Governor of Lagos State.
The group stressed the importance of preserving the harmony and peaceful coexistence that has characterized the relationship between the two communities.
The coordinator of the group, Aji Ibe, expressed surprise at the absence of individuals of Igbo descent in Sanwo-Olu’s administration, despite the efforts and sacrifices made by some members of the Igbo community to ensure the electoral success of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos and Nigeria as a whole.
