Former President Muhammadu Buhari has refuted allegations that his administration was controlled by cabals, dismissing such claims as mere imagination from Nigerians.

In a recent interview on Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Buhari addressed the notion of cabal influence during his tenure, stating, “It must have been their imagination.

He further explained that his focus has primarily been on local issues, saying, “I am so preoccupied with the local problems that I hardly think about the external problems.

Throughout his presidency, there were speculations about certain influential figures within the Presidency making key decisions for Buhari, with some being identified as close relatives and a former aide.

In 2017, former First Lady Aisha Buhari referred to these influential figures as “Hyenas and Jackals” attempting to undermine her husband’s administration.
