FG Takes Action, Palliative Road Projects To Commence In All States, FCT
The commencement of palliative road projects in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has been announced by the Federal Government, with the initiation scheduled to take place before December ends.
This declaration was made by the Federal Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, in a statement he personally issued on Monday.
Umahi, the former governor of Ebonyi State, responded to increasing public concerns regarding the deteriorating condition of certain federal roads nationwide.
He assured Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu’s current administration is dedicated to easing the challenges faced by motorists navigating these problematic roads.
Highlighting various severely degraded road sections inherited by Tinubu’s administration, including the Makurdi-Nsukka 9th Mile Road, East-West Road, Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Benin bypass road, collapsed bridges on the Enugu-Port Harcourt road, collapsed bridges on the Shandam-Plateau State route, Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano road, and Gombe-Bauchi, Umahi disclosed that Tinubu has approved N100 billion out of the N300 billion allocated to the Ministry of Works for immediate palliative efforts in the 36 states and the FCT.
The minister emphasized that President Tinubu has directed the commencement of work on these palliative projects before December 1, 2023, while ensuring adherence to all due processes.
Addressing specific road sections frequently complained about across the country, Umahi stated that President Tinubu has isolated them for immediate action, and work has already begun on these roads. He encouraged the public to verify the progress of these initiatives and provide feedback.
