JUST IN: Nigerians Panic As NNPC Officially Speaks On Fuel Price Increase

In a recent development, Nigerians find themselves on edge as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) addresses the trending concerns regarding a possible fuel price hike. The third of January witnessed a surge in news surrounding a supposed clash between the NNPCL and fuel marketers over increasing fuel prices, with speculations reaching as high as N1200 per litre.

The speculated prices stirred controversy and widespread panic among Nigerian social media users, amplifying the apprehension amid the already challenging economic climate in the nation. To quell the rising tension, NNPC issued an official press release through its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi O. Soneye.

In the statement, NNPC vehemently refuted claims of an imminent increase in the cost of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol. The assurance from NNPC emphasized that there are no plans for an upward review of the PMS price. The Chief Corporate Communications Officer urged Nigerians to dismiss unfounded rumors, reassuring them of the ample availability of PMS across the country.

As anxiety looms and speculations persist, NNPC’s official statement aims to alleviate concerns and discourage panic buying, emphasizing the stability of fuel supply in the nation. The announcement comes as a crucial intervention to dispel uncertainties and restore confidence in the fuel market.
