Quick Response By Lagos Police Saves Man From Suicide

Members of the Rapid Response Squad from the Lagos State Police Command successfully prevented an unidentified man from attempting suicide in the LASU-Iyana-Iba area. The incident occurred during a routine patrol when the RRS team, along with concerned passers-by, intervened as the man tried to jump in front of a moving vehicle. The RRS shared images of the event on their Facebook page, revealing that the man was restrained with the help of onlookers.

Following an investigation, the man’s family was identified, and he was subsequently handed over to them for close monitoring and support. The statement released by the RRS disclosed the details of the incident, stating, “Around 11:25 a.m. today (Wednesday), our operatives in Igando rescued a man trying to commit suicide by jumping in front of speeding vehicles on LASU – Iyana Iba Expressway. With the assistance of passers-by, he was restrained. His family was contacted, and he has been handed over to them for maximum attention.”

Additionally, the RRS reported the arrest of an undisclosed number of individuals involved in a violent altercation related to the death of a young man. The statement mentioned ongoing police presence in Bamgbose, Lagos Island, where the clash occurred. The joint teams of police operatives from various divisions, Area Command, and RRS successfully de-escalated the crisis, and the situation has returned to normal. The statement concluded with the assurance that law enforcement continues to monitor the area.
