In Edo State, three individuals, namely Augustine Ikponmwoba (62), Roland Ibizugbe (63), and Blessing Joseph (36), have been apprehended by the local police on allegations of stealing two vehicles during a church crusade.

The Commissioner of Police (CP) for the state, Funsho Adeboye, disclosed that the arrest followed the successful tracking of a stolen phone, which was given as a gift by one of the suspects, Augustine Ikponmwoba, to his girlfriend, Blessing Joseph.

According to CP Adeboye, Mrs. Joy Mordi and Mr. Peter E. Abiwo reported to the police that their vehicles were taken from the Garrick Memorial Ground where they had parked to attend a crusade. Subsequent to the conclusion of the crusade, they discovered the theft of their vehicles. During the investigation, Blessing Joseph, found in possession of the phone left in Mordi’s vehicle, was apprehended.

Further investigations revealed that Blessing Joseph confessed to receiving the phone from her boyfriend, Augustine Ikponmwoba. The arrest of Ikponmwoba subsequently led the police to Roland Ibizugbe, who was also taken into custody. Both suspects have admitted to their involvement in the crime and will face charges in court.
