Grammy Heartbreak: Burna Boy Misses Out On All Four Awards Despite Nominations
Nigerian artist Damini Ogulu, widely known as Burna Boy, received nominations in multiple categories at the prestigious awards ceremony. The Global Music Performance category saw Burna’s track ‘Alone’ vying for the top spot, but it ultimately lost to Zakir Hussain, Bela Fleck, and Edgar Myer’s composition ‘Pashto.
In the Best African Music Performance category, Burna Boy’s ‘City Boys’ faced tough competition but was surpassed by South African singer Tyla’s captivating song ‘Water’.
The quest for the Best Melodic Rap Performance title showcased Burna Boy’s ‘Sittin’ On Top of the World,’ but the honor went to American rappers Lil Durk and J Cole for their track ‘All My Life.’
Burna Boy’s fourth nomination, the highly coveted Best Global Music Album, featured his album ‘I Told Them.’ However, the award went to World fusion band Shakti’s ‘This Moment,’ leaving Burna Boy without a win in this category.
