Phillip Shaibu, the deputy governor of Edo State, has emerged as the winner in a factional primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2024 Edo governorship election.

Shaibu won the parallel primaries with over three hundred and one votes.

Meanwhile, the Governor Godwin Obaseki faction of the party is yet to commence its own election.
