Federal Capital Territory Authorities Detain 15 Individuals In Connection To Warehouse Looting
Federal Capital Territory Police Command announced the apprehension of 15 suspects linked to the vandalism of a warehouse owned by the Federal Capital Development Authority in Abuja. The spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a statement released on Sunday in Abuja, revealing that two security guards employed by the warehouse management were among the arrested individuals. The incident, which occurred in the Tasha area of Abuja, involved the looting and vandalism of the warehouse. The suspects were found in possession of 26 bags of maize, five motorcycles, and damaged aluminum roofing sheets.
Adeh further emphasized that the impulsive attack on the Agric Department Strategic food store had been brought under control, restoring normalcy to the area. Meanwhile, the Agricultural and Rural Development Secretariat of the FCTA confirmed the looting of its warehouse in Dei-Dei on Sunday. Residents in the FCT were reportedly driven by economic hardship to carry out the looting. Zakari Aliyu, the spokesperson for the ARD Secretariat, described the extent of the damage, stating that the looters had emptied the store and vandalized the facility by removing roofs and windows. The Secretary, along with other officials, visited the scene, and further investigations were expected to provide additional information on the incident.
